I am trying to install visual studio on ubuntu 16.04.
But when I execute the instructed command steps in here i get the above error and unable to install it.
The command steps I followed :

1. curl https://packages.microsoft.com/keys/microsoft.asc | gpg --dearmor > microsoft.gpg
2. sudo mv microsoft.gpg /etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d/microsoft.gpg
3. sudo sh -c 'echo "deb [arch=amd64] https://packages.microsoft.com/repos/vscode stable main" > /etc/apt/sources.list.d/vscode.list'
4. sudo apt update
5. sudo apt install code

I even tried to fixed the missing dependencies by executing this command :

sudo apt-get install -f

which gave me no upgrades as follows :

0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 7 not upgraded.

What should I do to fix this and install Visual Studio?

  • 1: what are the "7 not upgraded"? 2: have you recently run sudo apt full-upgrade? 3: What is the full context of "The following packages have unmet dependencies: Depends: libnss3 (>= 2:3.26) but 2:3.21-1ubuntu4 is to be installed"? 4: have you installed ppas? Which ones?
