How do I use boldface with the package garamondx? [on hold]

I was under the impression that the package garamondx included boldface, as said for instance in an answer to this question. However, I get no boldface when using it.
I am using garamondx alongside urw-garamond with mathdesign for mathematical content. I installed both through getnonfreefonts.
