I have ZERO experience at this. The laptop is 10 years old, running Windows 10 Home, and it is slowwwwwwww. I've done all the hdd cleanupa and defrag, but nothing changes.

My question is, if my Grandkids (ages 9 and less) still want to run it for games, am I doomed? Or is there a version of Linux I can install on USb stick that they can play Minecraft and Roblox from?

I'm just barely pc savvy, and know nothing about tech acronyms, so please don't assume I get everything you type unless its somewhat explained.

Thank you

You didn't give a lot of info about your laptop - my personal laptop is 14 years old this year, and works great. My experience with HP has been poor. Load up a live USB with Ubuntu 18.04, and give it a whirl!

  • These days the dirt cheap Raspberry Pi has superseded antique hardware as a retro gaming hardware platform for kids. Not that Minecraft is retro gaming, but the Raspberry Pi can run Ubuntu and Minecraft too. To answer your question, no, if you try to play Minecraft from a USB stick, performance and stability will suffer.
