  • How do I enable the “Universe” repository?

    4 answers

  • “Unable to locate package” while trying to install packages with APT

    5 answers

I'm running Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS.

I used sudo apt install exfat-fuse exfat-utils so I can upload my camera pictures.

Then I got this message:

Package exfat-utils is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source

E: Unable to locate package exfat-fuse
E: Package 'exfat-utils' has no installation candidate

Now what?

  • You haven't mentioned your release, but they are located in 'universe' so do you have that repository enabled? (packages.ubuntu.com/search?keywords=exfat) - help.ubuntu.com/community/Repositories/Ubuntu

  • That repository was enabled. I enabled multiverse and source code. That seemed to have fixed the issue. Thank you.
