ERROR* qxl_alloc_surf_ioctl: failed to create gem
I have created a KVM setup with a host and virtual. The host is Ubunut 18.04.1 LTS Desktop and the virtual is 16.04.05 LTS. Whenever I boot the virtual, the following error is displayed. I did a some searches and cannot find much info on this, however it seems to display releated. Has anyone seen this error? How to resolve it?
drm:qxl_gem_object_create [qxl] ERROR failed to allocate GEM object
drm:qxl_alloc_surf_ioctl ERROR failed to create GEM

You might add how exactly you start your qemu command line or if through libvirt or similar the guest config from that. That would help trying to understand why you might see that issue.
