Suggestion of a topic to give a seminar on [closed]
I've been attending a seminar series titled Geometric Structures on Manifolds these past few weeks as a part of my semester requirements, and therefore I'm expected to give a seminar as well. The topic essentially encapsulates all of
Being fairly new to the advanced areas of geometry, I'm at my wit's end on what topic I can chose and prepare for, but my interests lie in Number Theory and Algebraic Geometry.
A topic suggested to me, by the convener of the seminar, was Deligne-Illusie proof of degeneration of Hodge to de-Rham spectral sequence via reduction to positive characteristic. That topic just seems a bit too technical, and I'm definitely not comfortable with spectral sequences yet. So, I was hoping this community could recommend and suggest some elementary topics (and resources) that I could present! I would be much obliged.
The talk is supposed to be at least an hour long, and my prerequisites dwarf the audience's since I'm just a newbie but I have finished a majority of Harris's Algebraic Geometry, and perused through Hartshorne's book, and made major progress with Vakil's The Rising Sea.
