I am locked into the opening screen

I am only able to see the opening screen of cosmic cuttlefish ~ i can sometimes scroll down to the password ~ sometimes not. When I can scroll I cannot enter the password ~ the letters just disappear.

  • Can you access ttys? If yes can you print the output of /var/log/syslog please? Also have you tried booting with nomodeset?

  • I am using desktop MSI B350 motherboard Ryzen AMD. I managed to get into the main OS by using ctrl alt delete. I shutdown and restarted having now downloaded Mint Cinnamon but cannot get into BIOS to boot from cd rom drive
