EF 6 - Return Data Using SqlQuery and then Use a DataReader to Map the Result Set
I have inherited a project that has about 80 stored procedure calls coded using Enterprise Library. I need to delete the Enterprise Library from the project and convert it to use Entity Framework 6 going forward. The code has several functions that look like this:
public UsersInfo GetByUserId(string userId)
{
UsersInfo user = null;
using (IDataReader rdr = MyDataGateway.DefaultInstance.Database.ExecuteReader(MySproc, new object { userId, null }))
{
if (rdr.Read())
{
user = FillModelObject(rdr);
}
}
return user;
}
The FillObjectModel function requires the IDataReader type.
I have found an SO Post that seems to explain how to use EF with DataReader, but the example doesn't have a DataReader object anywhere in it. So, I cannot figure out how the sample code helps me. Also, the sample code expects one column returned as a string, but I need this code to handle 80 different models. I should also point out that the UsersInfo model does not match the columns being returned from the sproc and this is the same type of problem for all 80 sprocs. I would like to avoid researching all 80 sprocs to figure out exactly what the return model needs to be. My goal is to delete the Enterprise Library DLL references.
