Automated folder-tree creation script
I'm trying to write a script that will be ran by an inotify type service. I'd like the script to automatically create a specific set of folders inside a chosen directory. For example, the chosen directory is "Projects". Inside the projects folder, I'd manually create a folder based on the type of project, such as "Arduino". Now, the inotify service would find that there was a new folder created in the "Projects" folder and run a script that would create folders "Scripts, Notes, Finalized" inside of the Arduino folder. Now the catch, I'd like it to then check if that is the deepest directory, and if it's not, then to move the folders to it. Such as if I then changed the folder tree to be Projects > Arduino > LEDS which then the script will move the "Scripts, Notes, Finalized" folders to the "LEDS"
I'm learning bash as I go along, so I'm no pro by any means. I wouldn't expect someone to write me a full script, but point me in the right direction to learn how to accomplish this!
The script will be running on SlackWare (UnRAID)
This is what I have so far, I need to make the if state compare if a certain folder is already made so I don't loop creating folders until the end of time.
IFS=$'n'
file="deepdirectory"
find /mnt/user/projects -type d -links 2 > deepdirectory
while read -r line || [[ -n "$line" ]]; do
echo "$line"
if [ -z "$(ls -A $line)" ]
echo "This folder is empty, We will automatically create foldertree."
else
echo "There is nothing to create."
fi
done < "$file"
Any help is appreciated,
Thanks!
