Missing links when using ref and label in combination with input

I wrote a latex file where there are a lot of other latex files inputted to it with input, and I used ref and label to connect a lot of the information within. The PDF shows the right reference but I can't press on it to go to the chapter or section. I can't do that with the contacts either. those red box things are nowhere in the PDF form and I'm using Mac.
Please help.

(1) welcome, (2) you need to show some code if you want help. e have no idea what you are doing. (3) Might be the you are missing thehyperref
package, as the hyperlinks you are describing is the product of using thehyperref
package, not just standalone label+ref
