Edgengram in solr not retaining words less than minGramSize
For my website I am using solr for typeahead solution. I am using below fieldtype to store data in a field, on which typeahead will run:
<fieldType name="text_suggest" class="solr.TextField" positionIncrementGap="100">
<analyzer type="index">
<tokenizer class="solr.WhitespaceTokenizerFactory"/>
<filter class="solr.StopFilterFactory" ignoreCase="true" words="stopwords.txt"/>
<filter class="solr.LowerCaseFilterFactory"/>
<filter class="solr.EdgeNGramFilterFactory" maxGramSize="8" minGramSize="2"/>
</analyzer>
<analyzer type="query">
<tokenizer class="solr.WhitespaceTokenizerFactory"/>
<filter class="solr.StopFilterFactory" ignoreCase="true" words="stopwords.txt"/>
<filter class="solr.LowerCaseFilterFactory"/>
</analyzer>
</fieldType>
But, the problem with above fieldtype is, it is not retaining any words that are less than 2.
Say, I want to search "iphone 5". So, if I type "iph" it works fine, but when I type "iphone 5" I get no result. It's understandable that I am tokenizing and then using edge ngram so for min of 2 letters, "5" will be ignored. Is there a way I can retain one letter words too?
How can I solve this?

either you change the minGramSize to 1 or you can have another field with different fieldType...you can search on both the fields
