Ubuntu random blackscreens
While running Ubuntu occasionally (but really unregular) experience black screens. When this happens I am forced to hard reset the PC.
Informations:
- Computer keeps running and sound keeps playing.
- Sometimes (ca. 50%) the computer still reacts to keyboard strokes e.g. switching on/off videos (you can hear the music), saving documents, but sometimes it seems frozen.
- The blackscreens is always triggered by some kind of input (e.g.
Alt+Tab, clicking on the panel, maximizing a window, ...) - For some reason the Ctrl+Alt+Fx combination doesn't work anymore
since the update on Ubuntu 18.04 - There are no obvious errors in the log files (but I am also not an
expert). - Windows 10 (dual boot) is not affected.
- Before updating to Ubuntu 18.04 and changing to the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti graphics card no problem (I am not sure which of both causes the problem)
My system:
- Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS
- GeForce GTX 1050 Ti
- I use two displays (DIV-D and DP) and a beamer (HDMI), blackscreen affects all
Output:
thomas@thomas-desktop:~$ lspci -nnk | grep -A3 "[03..]:"
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: NVIDIA Corporation GP107 [GeForce GTX 1050 Ti] [10de:1c82] (rev a1)
Subsystem: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. GP107 [GeForce GTX 1050 Ti] [1043:8613]
Kernel driver in use: nouveau
Kernel modules: nvidiafb, nouveau
I don't now which other terminal output are needed too help you guys solving this problem, so please ask.
