Failing to Decompress csv.gz using NodeJS and gunzip-file

0

I'm trying to decompress a file with that end with csv.gz to csv without success.

My code looks as the following:

'use strict'

const gunzip = require('gunzip-file')
var fs = require('fs');

// The absolute path of the new file with its name
var filepath = "mynewfile.csv";
var inputfile = "mynewfile.csv.gz";

var fileContents = fs.createReadStream(inputfile);
var writeStream = fs.createWriteStream(filepath);

try {
gunzip(inputfile, filepath, () => {
console.log('gunzip done!')
})
}

catch (err) {
// handle the error safely
console.log(err)
}

and I get the following error:

events.js:160
throw er; // Unhandled 'error' event
^

Error: incorrect header check
at Zlib._handle.onerror (zlib.js:370:17)

    I tried to reproduce but your code works for me. I'm going to say you probably have a corrupted/incorrectly-formatted file.

  • Sorry, my bad I did not find the npm module. Did you checked what the module does under the hood? :)

  • @JimB. Thank you it was a corrupted file. Thanks for running this code locally!
