How to refresh battery life estimate with gnome?

Unlike with windows, the battery life estimates for my x1 extreme tend to be inconsistent. When power use is high, the estimates go down but when I'm not using a lot of power then they should go up but they don't update immediately to reflect this. Is there a way to update battery life more frequently?

I think I'm fairly happy with the spacing around "A chapter", so I'd really like titles without descenders (e.g. "Contents") to have the same vertical spacing as "A chapter" below the title.
