How to turn off blinking wifi button - Ubuntu 16.04 - r8822be

the wifi button on my HP with Ubuntu 16.04 is always blinking when there is network activity, which is kind of annoying.
There have been some solutions to the problem by setting the parameter led_mode (e.g. with the driver module "iwlwifi" here: Wifi LED continuously blinking UBUNTU 14.04 and slowed connection)
Unfortunately the driver "r8822be" doesn't provide such a parameter.
Does anybody know another solution to the problem?
