Coming back from a dual-boot?

I've used ubuntu exclusively for a long time now. Recently I bought a new PC and I don't want to get rid of windows just yet.
Every time I had a problem I could not solve, or could not find an answer to, with linux, I would just boot it again and reinstall it.
Now, I know dual-boots sometimes are a pain, and so I wanted to know if, in a state of crisis, it is possible to just boot a windows using the serial which comes with my pc. If not, how could I delete a dual-boot?
