Adding chapter icons based on “tags” using a lyx layout file?

I use Lyx and have a custom layout file based on the "Book" layout.

I'd like to add icons to chapter titles, between the chapter number and the chapter name, like the photo below, where each chapter might have a different icon (although some icons can be reused).

Is there a good structured way to do this, where, in Lyx, I can tag a chapter with an icon class, such as "heart", "spaceship", "gift", etc.

And then define an image for the chapter's tag in the layout file, and then have the correct image inserted when the document is exported?

The goal would be to only define each specific image in one place, to make updates to the icons easy, and have the tag attached to the chapter so that if the chapter is moved to a different spot in the book, the correct icon stays with it.

Here's some similar questions:

  • Add a little image to chapter name

  • chapter title layout

But what I'm looking for here that's different is how this could be done in a structured way, so that the chapters just get tagged in some way, without having to hardcore an image for each chapter, or create a new chapter environment for each chapter image type.

How should I approach this?
