Ubuntu MATE 18.04 Network Manager Permissions
I'm running with a fresh install of Ubuntu MATE 18.04 and I'm having trouble figuring out how to provide additional users with the appropriate permissions required to manage the network (Ethernet) interfaces via the Network Manager GUI.
As of now, I have two main user accounts: The primary account created during installation, and a second account (created manually with adduser) which is used mainly for remote access via Xvnc (also using MATE desktop).
The issue is that the second user is not able to modify the network configuration using the GUI due to some permission issue. Any attempt to modify a setting results in a "Not authorized to control networking" pop-up error.
I've added the second user to the adm, sudo, netdev, lpadmin, and sambashare groups (basically all of the same groups that the primary user belongs to), but that didn't work.
I can manually modify the interface settings with ifconfig, but that seems to throw Network Manager into an inconsistent state and isn't really a long term solution.
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

Networkmanager doesn't use sudo. It uses Polkit. Take a look at your polkit rules and see which group exactly has permissions.
