I recently upgraded from Ubuntu 17.10 to 18.04 on my Dell Inspiron 5100 AMD. I used it for several weeks but it would randomly crash and restart eventually. I left it on a week ago overnight and when I found it the following day it was black. I assumed it could have been in suspense but when I tried to resume it didn’t work. I tried to boot it and the screen is just black and it doesn’t change.

What do you mean by "randomly crash and restart eventually?" What have you done to rule out hardware faults?
