using password manager to unlock LUKS drive

I use KeyPassXC to type my passwords and a USB drive for some of my files. In Ubuntu 16.04 I could plug in my drive, and when the password prompt came up just switch over to my PM and have it type the password for me. Unfortunately, when you plug a LUKS drive into Ubuntu 18.04, the password prompt takes over your whole computer screen so that you can't switch to any other program without canceling the password entry for your LUKS drive. I even tried using the copy/paste feature of KeyPassXC to try to copy the password to clipboard right before plugging in my LUKS drive, but the LUKS password prompt won't even allow me to paste the password in from the clipboard.
Is there any way to use a password manager to unlock a LUKS drive in Ubuntu 18.04?
