How can I make a simple countdown timer that can be set and stopped in Verilog like a watch timer would?

I'm just exploring the world of Verilog and trying to figure out how to create a countdown timer that can be set and stopped like something you would find on a watch and displayed on a 7 segment display. Don't know how to go about it but I learn from examples and would love to see this in action. Only needs hours, minutes and seconds pls. Thanks.

This question is too broad for StackOverflow. Not sure if you understand hardware design already, and just want help expressing it in Verilog. Maybe try asking on the Electrical Engineer site with what specific hardware you are trying to implement it on.

Stack overflow does not provide solutions for home work. Please try to create a design your self and ask a question if you have problems with verilog.
