tried several times to install vlc player on synaptic and as well on the terminal; the terminal tells me with apt-get, it is not a valid command; with synaptic it installs alright but if i want to play something on it, it just flickers and does nothing. I work with an AMD Athlon 64 dual core processor, 2 GB RAM; i can play most streams and videos in the GNOME MPV, but for some reason it does not play some of the DVDs i have. i guess VLC would do it, but i cannot get it to work. Could anybody help, please?

  • Hi, I read these and tried with libdvd, but it did not help, as VLC is not working properly after install.
