What exactly the timestamp property represents in the nativeEvent for View component in react native?

0

I am displaying the timestamp property of the e.nativeEvent inside the onResponderMove property of the View component with the help of the state. Now when I run the application and start touch moving, then the number of timestamp is incremented continuously and even if I move the touch fast the timestamp is incremented very fast according to the touch move speed.

The react native documentation says that:

A time identifier for the touch, useful for velocity calculation.

What does it mean? Does it show the timestamp when this touch is performed? Or it is used to calculate the touch movement speed?

If timestamp property is used to calculate the speed of touch movement then the initial value of timestamp property should be started from 0 but instead of 0 its initial value is started from value other than 0 for example 41798445 etc, and during time to time when I reload the app and test the timestamp property again then the value of timestamp property is even increased from the last timestamp property.

Can anyone tell what is this property and why it is used and what does it represent?
