ORA-22275: invalid LOB locator specified in XMLFOREST in Oracle

0

I am getting the ORA-22275: invalid LOB locator specified when I am trying generate XML data from a relational table in Oracle using Oracle XMLFOREST procedure.

For example, following is the simple query:

select xmlelement("employee",
xmlforest(e.employee_id , e.first_name)) "employee"
from hr.employees e
where employee_id = 199;

When I execute the query in SQL Developer (18.3.0.277) it does not throw any error but when I check the text value of of the output column I get the following in the box:

ORA-22275: invalid LOB locator specified

When I ran the query in SQLPlus I don't get any error but the value is truncated:

<employee><EMPLOYEE_ID>199</EMPLOYEE_ID><FIRST_NAME>Douglas</FIRST_NAME></employ

I believe I need to set some environment configuration but don't know what. Can anyone please assist?
