lspci -k | grep -A 2 -i “VGA” does not list Nvidia graphic card. Ubuntu goes to black screen after login...

lspci -k | grep -A 2 -i "VGA" should show both Intel and Nvidia graphic card but lists only intel. ubuntu-drivers devices though lists the nvidia 340 driver recommended. Tried all the solutions about black screen after login but nothing works. After login, the screen flickers for sometime and then the screen goes black after login. Specs - Ubuntu 16.04 LTS and Nvidia 340 graphic card.
