AJAX call on button click magento 2

0

I have added a button to admin order view using the code below.

Plugin.php-

public function beforePushButtons(
MagentoBackendBlockWidgetButtonToolbarInterceptor $subject,
MagentoFrameworkViewElementAbstractBlock $context,
MagentoBackendBlockWidgetButtonButtonList $buttonList
) {

$this->_request = $context->getRequest();
if($this->_request->getFullActionName() == 'sales_order_view'){
$buttonList->add(
'send_to_module',
['label' => __('Send To Module'),
'onclick' => 'jQuery.post("phoenix.php");
alert("hello");',

'class' => 'reset'],
-1
);
}

}

di.xml -

<?xml version="1.0"?>
<config xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation="urn:magento:framework:ObjectManager/etc/config.xsd">
<type name="MagentoBackendBlockWidgetButtonToolbar">
<plugin name="Vendor_Module::plugin" type="VendorModulePluginPlugin" />
</type>

When I click on the button, the alert box is shown with "hello". But the control does not go to phoenix.php and an error message is shown -

"A technical problem with the server created an error. Try again to continue what you were doing. If the problem persists, try again later."

Is there any way to make an ajax call from a php file in magento 2? I saw links and tutorials that tell you to do it in a phtml file. I'm not sure how to add a button to admin order view from a phtml file.
