File link with space in href

0

I would like to have a link in my tex file to a file on my computer using
href from the hyperref package. However, the link includes a space,

../folder name/..

I tried

href{file://data/folder name/file.pdf}{file}

but the link does not work (file not found). What is the correct way to do this?

  • Is there a backslash in the fully qualified filename (between "folder" and "name"), or should that be simple space, not preceded by a backslash?

    What about href{file:"//data/folder name/file.pdf"}{file}?

  • @Werner: Indeed, it works without backslash!! I was sure it has to appear there since it is necessary in the bash...
